Rams Baseball Takes Two from Maritime

In the second meeting of the season between these two baseball teams, Farmingdale State (4-7, 3-2 Skyline) came away with two more wins against Maritime (1-11, 0-8 Skyline) after a conference double-header in Throggs Neck, NY on Sunday afternoon. The Rams hit two home-runs in game two, scoring a combined 11 runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Sophomore Stephen Corvetti (Rockville Centre, NY/Southside) hit the first home-run of the game in the third inning, before freshman Rich Santoro (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) hit a grand slam in the fourth inning to give the Rams an 11-2 lead. In the second game, freshman pitcher Josh Deitch (Melville, NY/Hills East) threw a complete game, striking out 13 batters in the 16-3 victory.

Joe Bono (Selden, NY/St. Anthony?s) improved his record to 2-2 on the mound in game one, throwing all seven innings, striking out nine and walking only two. Sophomore Nick Barone (North Babylon, NY/North Babylon) hit two triples on the day, batting in six runs.

Farmingdale State travels to Centenary on Tuesday, April 12th for a conference double-header starting at 1:00pm.
