Farmingdale State freshman Rich Santoro (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) hit the first homerun out of Farmingdaleís new turf field, a shot to centerfield, in the Rams 14-11 win over Staten Island on Tuesday afternoon. Another first for the books, Rams sophomore Nick Barone (North Babylon, NY/North Babylon) hit for the cycle, including two triples and the second homerun of the day. Farmingdale State improves to 6-20 overall, while Staten Island falls to 22-13.
Barone finished the game 5-for-5 with three runs scored and four RBIís. Santoro had three hits, three runs scored and three RBIís. Freshman Luis Feliciano (Bronx, NY/Park West) had two hits and four stolen bases for the Rams. Joseph Bono (Selden, NY/St. Anthonyís) picked up the win after throwing 8.1 innings, before senior Anthony Scali (Massapequa Park, NY/Massapequa) pitched the final two outs for his first career save.
For Staten Island, Mike Liconti (Staten Island, NY/St. Peterís) hit the third homerun of the game and finished with two RBIís. Joseph Ruiz (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph by the Sea) led the team with three hits.
Farmingdale now travels to Old Westbury for a conference game on Wednesday, May 4th at 3:30pm.
