Farmingdale, NY - Farmingdale State improved to 3-8 overall as they took two from Cazenovia in today's baseball doubleheader. Sophomore pitcher Jesse Scott (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) picked up his second win of the season, while sophomore pitcher William Jansen (Westhampton Beach, NY/Westhampton Beach) won game two for his first win of the season.

In game one, Scott allowed one run on three hits with five strikeouts to lead the Rams to a 7-1 victory. Freshman third basemen Anthony Thompson (Levittown, NY/Island Trees) got Farmingdale going in the 4th inning with a single through the right side scoring freshman outfielder Tom Heeman (Valley Stream, NY/ Hewlett) from second. Heeman finished the game 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored, two runs batted in and two steals.

In game two, Jansen pitched five innings allowing just two hits and striking out three. Farmingdale capitalized on four Wildcat errors to jump out to an early 9-0 lead after two innings and ended with a 10-3 victory. Junior second baseman Ryan Pembroke (Wading River, NY/Shoreham Wading River) was 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and two runs batted in. Junior shortstop John Basquez (Sunnyside, NY/Cordoza) finished 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and one RBI. Junior outfielder Nick Barone (North Babylon, NY/North Babylon) brought in two runs on a sacrifice fly and a triple.

Heeman added two singles for the Rams to finish 4-for-6 for the day.

Farmingdale will host SUNY IT tomorrow for an 11:00 a.m. non-conference match-up in Farmingdale, NY.
