Farmingdale, NY ? The Farmingdale State baseball team (10-13, 5-1) swept a Skyline Conference doubleheader with Maritime (0-6, 0-6) today in Farmingdale, NY. Rams sophomore pitcher Rob Savarese (Syosset, NY/Syosset) pitched a complete game shutout giving up five hits in nine innings for the 2-0 victory. Freshman pitcher Joe Sorrentino (Shoreham, NY/Shoreham Wading River) got the 11-3 win in the second game going four innings and giving up no runs.

In game one, sophomore outfielder Keith King (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) singled to score Sorrentino who reached base with a two-out triple. After King reached second on a error by Privateers' pitcher Christopher Watson (Bayville, NY/Locust Valley), junior catcher Bryan Ciminelli (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) singled to score King for an insurance run. Watson also pitched a complete game, striking out 10 Rams and allowing six hits in nine innings.

In game two, King reached base on every at-bat going 1-for-1 with two walks, two stolen bases and three runs scored for Farmingdale. Freshman outfielder Tom Heeman (Valley Stream, NY/Hewlett) finished 2-for-5 with one run scored. Junior outfielder Nick Barone (North Babylon, NY North Babylon) added a hit and two runs batted in.

The Rams face Merchant Marine tomorrow, Sunday, April 2nd for another Skyline Conference doubleheader at Noon in Farmingdale, NY
