Farmingdale, NY The Farmingdale State baseball team (17-18, 10-6 Skyline) split a conference doubleheader against visiting Stevens Institute of Technology (28-9, 12-4 Skyline) on Saturday afternoon in Farmingdale, NY. Ducks' junior Eric McCormick (Edison, NJ/JP Stevens) pitched five innings for the 6-4 win in the first game, giving up two runs (one earned) on six hits. Sophomore Rob Savarese (Syosset, NY/Syosset) secured the complete game shutout for the Rams 10-0 victory in the second game. Savarese pitched seven innings allowing only two hits and striking out five.

In game one, Stevens scored two early runs in the first. Sophomore first baseman John Frustaci (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Paramus Catholic) hit a two-out double down the left field line. Frustaci would later score off a single through the left side by junior infielder Ryan Birkenstock (Smithville, NJ/Absegami). Stevens added one run in the third and fourth to make it a 4-0 lead. Farmingdale State got two back in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI-ground-out by freshman shortstop Joe Sorrentino (Shoreham, NY/Shoreman Wading River) and the help of an error to allow a second run to score later in the inning. The Ducks added two unearned runs in the eight giving them a 6-2 lead. The Rams fought back in the bottom of the inning, loading the bases with one out. Farmingdale was only able to get two runs as freshman Mike Labrozzi (Sag Harbor, NY/ Pierson), with bases loaded, lined into a double play to end the inning.

In game two, the Rams jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings and never looked back. Junior right fielder Nick Barone (North Babylon, NY/North Babylon) finished the game 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs batted in, and two runs scored. Sophomore left fielder Rich Santoro (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) and Labrozzi both added two hits each. Junior catcher Bryan Ciminelli (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) and sophomore shortstop Luis Feliciano (Bronx, NY/Park West) both added doubles.

Farmingdale State will finish their season with a conference doubleheader aganist Mt. St. Mary on Sunday, April 30 at Noon in Newburgh, NY.
