Mazzilli and Levan Named Skyline Player and Rookie of the Week
Mar 13, 2007

Farmingdale State junior outfielder Anthony Mazzilli (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) and freshman utility player Ray Levan (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) were named the Skyline Player and Rookie of the Week for baseball on Tuesday, March 13th.

Farmingdale State College opened its season by winning five of its first eight games. Mazzilli batted .529 with five extra-base hits and seven runs batted in during that stretch. He had four multiple-hit games including a 2-for-4 performance with a home run and four runs batted in in a 12-6 win over Gwynedd-Mercy in the Rams' first game in Florida. Mazzilli also went 3-for-6 with two doubles and a triple in a doubleheader split against Muhlenberg.

Levan has proven to be a versatile player early in the season for the Rams. Levan, who has also seen time as a pinch runner, hit .500 (2-for-4) with four runs scored and three runs batted in. He is also a perfect 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts. In a win over Muhlenberg, the rookie made the most of his playing time by going 2-for-3 with a double and three runs batted in.

The Skyline Conference Weekly Reports for all spring sports are announced by the Conference on Mondays. Reports (including players of the week and conference statistics) are available to view on the Skyline website at www.skylineconference.org.
