Farmingdale, NY - The Farmingdale State baseball team (10-8, 4-2) picked up two wins against Skyline Conference opponent Maritime College (1-10, 0-6) today in Farmingdale, N.Y. Junior starting pitcher Rob Savarese (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) picked up the victory in the first game, giving up only one run on five hits and striking out six in seven strong innings. Freshman starting pitcher James Raimondi (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue) had a similar outing, giving up one earned run on five hits and striking out three in six and two-thirds innings.

In game one, sophomore shortstop Brian Benvenuto (Dix Hills, N.Y./Hills West/Nassau CC) had a stand-out game for the Rams, going 3-for-4 with a triple, home run, three runs scored, one RBI, and a walk. Freshman left fielder Frank Ennis (Commack, N.Y./Commack) went 3-for-3 with a triple, three runs batted in, two runs scored and a walk.

In game two, Benvenuto added two hits with an RBI and a walk. He finished the day 5-for-6 with two stolen bases. Sophomore utility Tom Heeman (Valley Stream, N.Y./Hewlett) went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored.

Privateers senior first baseman Rhett Rockefeller (Huntington, N.Y./Harborfields) went 3-for-7 with one RBI for the day. Senior right fielder Arlis Steel (Lawton, Okla./Lawton) added two hits and a run scored.

Farmingdale with face Skyline Conference opponent Merchant Marine in another doubleheader tomorrow at Noon in Kings Point, N.Y.
