Rams Shutout Yeshiva in Conference Doubleheader

Farmingdale, N.Y. – The Farmingdale State baseball team improved to 6-8, 2-0 in the Skyline tonight with 13-0 and 15-0 wins over conference opponent Yeshiva University (0-11, 0-2) in a home doubleheader in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams allowed just three hits in the first game and two hits in the second game. Sophomore Steve King (Freeport, N.Y./Freeport) went 6 1/3 in game one for the victory, while striking out 11 batters. Junior Mike Gionesi (Bellmore, N.Y./Mepham) pitched 5 1/3 innings in the second game and struck out nine.

Junior designated hitter Tom Heeman (Valley Stream, N.Y./Hewlett) led the Farmingdale offense in the first game, going 2-for-3 with four runs batted in. Sophomore third basemen Ray Levan (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) finished with two hits, one RBI, two stolen bases and two runs scored.

In game two for the Rams, freshman first basemen Kevin Curtis (Riverhead, N.Y./Riverhead) went 4-for-5 with five RBI’s. Senior second basemen Luis Feliciano (Bronx, N.Y./Park West) went 3-for-3 with one RBI, one stolen base and three runs scored. Senior center fielder Anthony Mazzilli (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) was also 3-for-3 with three RBI’s and two runs.

Farmingdale now hosts Oswego State in a non-conference doubleheader tomorrow, Wednesday, March 19th starting at 12 Noon.
