Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team moved to one game over .500 (11-10) tonight with a 9-2 victory over non-conference opponent City College of New York (1-13) in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams had 11 hits that were spread across all of the starters.
The Beavers took an early 1-0 lead but the Rams answered back with
four runs on five hits to start the first inning. Farmingdale added
five runs across the next three innings to secure the win.
Sophomore designated hitter Garrett Laudry (Glen Cove, N.Y./Glen
Cove/Clarendon) finished the day 2-for-5 with a triple, two runs
batted in, and two runs scored. Junior second baseman Mike Dietrich
(Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) added two singles, an RBI, and a
run.
Sophomore shortstop Willis Fernandez (New York, N.Y./Manhattan
Center) went 2-for-4 with a stolen bases for CCNY. Sophomore first
baseman Pavel Cruz (New York, N.Y./Manhattan Center) had the
Beavers only extra base hit with a double in the sixth.
The Rams get back to Skyline Conference action on Saturday as they
travel to Mount Saint Mary’s for a doubleheader starting at
Noon.
