Heeman Pitches Eight Shutout Innings in 2nd Round of Playoffs

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Junior right-hander Tom Heeman (Valley Stream, N.Y./Hewlett) pitched eight scoreless innings as the Rams won 4-0 in the 2nd round of the Skyline Conference Playoffs, advancing to the 3rd Round game tomorrow, Saturday, May 3rd at Noon. Heeman allowed just five hits in his 6th victory of the season (6-2), behind Farmingdale's seven hit outing. Sophomore closer Billy Garofalo (Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) pitched in the 9th with a 1-2-3 inning to secure the win for Farmingdale State.

Sophomore outfielder Steve Campbell (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) led off the game with a single to right in the first and was moved over to second by senior thirdbasemen Luis Feliciano's (Bronx, N.Y./Park West) sacrifice bunt. Campbell came in on a Mount Saint Mary error for a 1-0 Rams lead.

The game remained scoreless until Farmingdale added three insurance runs in the bottom of the 8th for a 4-0 edge.

The Rams now face the winner of #3 Mount Saint Vincent and #2 St. Joseph's on Saturday, May 3rd at Noon.
