Huber Pitches Complete Game; Panthers Advance to Championship

#4 Old Westbury - 15, #3 Mount Saint Mary - 2

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Sophomore right hander James Huber (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) pitched a complete game, allowing eight hits, two runs and striking out five as the #4 Panthers took a 15-2 victory over #3 Mount Saint Mary in tonight's third round elimination game of the Skyline Conference Baseball Tournament. Old Westbury (22-17) will now meet top-seed Farmingdale State for the Championship, tomorrow at Noon.

Old Westbury scored one run in the first inning and led throughout, finishing with 19 hits, including five doubles, two triples and a homerun. Panther junior centerfielder Jason Kondra (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse Minoa) was a double shy of the cycle in the win, as he went 4-for-5 with three RBI's and three runs scored.

Junior designated hitter Josef Schaetzle (Bellmore, N.Y./Chaminade) also finished 3-for-5 with three RBI's and two runs, while junior right fielder Bladimir Toribio (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fort Hamilton) went 4-for-6 with an RBI and two runs scored.

For Mount Saint Mary (14-20), sophomore shortstop Max Tecce (Glen Cove, N.Y./Glen Cove) was 2-for-4 with one run scored and junior catcher Louis Peisel (Brewster, N.Y./JFK Catholic) was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Sophomore pitcher Matt Senzamici (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) received the loss for the Blue Knights, after going 4.2 innings and striking out five while allowing seven hits and five earned runs.
