Skyline Releases Baseball Report #9
- Yera named Player of the Week, Phelan Pitcher
of the Week, Curtis named to Honor Roll -
Clifton Park, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the ninth and final baseball report for the 2010 season on Monday, May 3rd, including Player of the Week, Pitcher of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics.
Senior centerfielder Frank Yera (Manhattan, N.Y./Grand Street Campus) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Yera batted .750 (8-for-12) with a triple, four runs batted in, eight runs scored and four stolen bases in the Rams’ three Skyline Conference tournament games. In the championship game against Old Westbury, Yera went 3-for-5 with a triple and two runs scored. He also went 3-for-4 with five runs scored against Mount Saint Mary.
Sophomore pitcher Chris Phelan (Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) was named Skyline Conference Pitcher of the Week. Phelan pitched 10 innings in two Skyline Conference tournament games, earning the win in the championship game. In the final, Phelan entered the game in the fourth inning with the Rams trailing 7-2 and gave up just two earned runs the rest of the way.
Junior first baseman Kevin Curtis (Riverhead, N.Y./Riverhead) was named to the Skyline Player of the Week Honor Roll. Curtis batted .500 (5-for-10) with a team-leading eight RBI in three Skyline tournament games.
