David is a 2009 graduate of Riverhead High School, where he was a Team Captain his senior year and was selected All-League in both his junior and senior years.

He is the son of Charlie and Marybeth Zilnicki.

Freshman year...Named First Team Alll-Skyline. Started 12 games at Third Base. Finished 4th on the team with a .468 on-base percentage and 7th with a .365 batting average.
