Skyline Releases Baseball Report #8

- Phelan named Pitcher of the Week, Ferrante Rookie of the Week -


Clifton Park, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the eighth baseball report for the 2011 season this afternoon, including Player of the Week, Pitcher of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics.

Junior pitcher Chris Phelan (Patchogue, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Pitcher of the week. Phelan tossed 7.1 innings of shutout ball on April 20th as Farmingdale State blanked Maritime, 8-0. He allowed six hits and struck out seven, earning his fifth victory of the season.

Freshman outfielder Anthony Ferrante (Holtsville, N.Y) was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week. Ferrante went 2-for-3 with a run scored in his lone contest of the week as Farmingdale State defeated Maritime 4-1 in the second game of the doubleheader. He has been named the Skyline Rookie of the Week twice this season.

Senior centerfielder Frank Yera (Manhattan, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline Conference Player of the Week Honor Roll. Yera went 4-for-7 with a pair of home runs in a doubleheader sweep (8-0, 4-1) of Maritime.
