Skyline Releases Spring Weekly Report #7

- Scarlato named Player of the Week, Phelan named Pitcher of the Week for baseball -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the spring report for the 2011-12 season on Monday, April 16, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for baseball, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, softball, and men's tennis.

Baseball Update - Full Report

The baseball team posted a 5-0 record this week including sweeps over conference opponents Mount Saint Mary and Mount Saint Vincent.

Senior catcher Frank Scarlato (Holbrook, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week and senior pitcher Chris Phelan (Patchogue, N.Y.) earned Skyline Pitcher of the Week honors.

Scarlato batted .692 with four doubles, four runs scored and 8 RBI this week. He had a slugging pct. of 1.000 and a .722 on base percentage. Scarlato had also put together a 12-game hit streak.

Phelan earned two of the teams five wins on the week. He pitched 14 innings against Mount Saint Mary and Lehman, allowing five hits, no runs, while striking out 16. Phelan tossed a complete game shutout with 10 strikeouts against Mount Saint Mary.

The Rams close out conference play with a home doubleheader against St. Joseph's on Saturday, April 21st at noon.

Men's Lacrosse Update - Full Report

The men's lacrosse team defeated conference opponent Stockton, 8-4, on senior day this week. The Rams honored 10 seniors who were playing in one of their final regular season home games.

Senior goalkeeper Patrick Delventhal (Westbury, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline Conference Player of the Week Honor Roll after recording 10 saves and allowing only four goals in the win over Stockton.

This week Farmingdale State hosts Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday, April 18th at 4:00 p.m. and then close out the regular season at Maritime on Saturday, April 21st at 1:00 p.m.

Women's Lacrosse Update - Full Report

The Rams won a pair of Skyline games this week picking up wins over Ramapo and Kean. The team is a perfect 6-0 in conference play and currently in first place.

Junior attack Carly Schneider (Merrick, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline Conference Player of the Week Honor Roll. Schneider scored four goals and added an assist in both games this week. She finished with eight goals and two assists for 10 points in a 2-0 week for Farmingdale State.

The Rams will travel to Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday, April 18th at 4:00 p.m. before wrapping up the regular season at home on senior day versus Sage on Saturday, April 21st at 1:00 p.m.

Softball Update - Full Report

The Rams played six games this week and posted a record of 4-2. Farmingdale State split with both St. Joe's and Old Westbury and swept Mount Saint Vincent at home on senior day.

Senior outfielder Rebecca Richman (West Islip, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline Conference Player of the Week Honor Roll. Richman batted .529 this week with hits in 5-of-6 games. She had one double, three runs scored, 3 RBI and stole two bases.

This week the Rams travel to Staten Island for a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, April 17th at 4:00 p.m. and then close out the regular season at Sage on Saturday, April 21st at 1:00 p.m.

Men's Tennis Update - Full Report

The men's tennis team picked up 9-0 wins over Staten Island, St. Joseph's and Sage this week, with their only loss coming in a 6-3 defeat to Division II Dowling College.

This week the Rams will play four matches this upcoming week hosting Purchase on Tuesday, April 17th at 6:00 p.m. and Baruch on Saturday, April 21st at 1:00 p.m.
