Six Rams Named All-Conference for Baseball; Rice Tabbed Skyline Player of the Year

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference 10 head baseball coaches have voted on this season's all-conference team and Farmingdale State junior right fielder Vincent Rice (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) has been selected as Player of the Year.

Along with Rice, senior pitcher Matthew Constantine (West Babylon, N.Y.) was also named First Team All-Skyline, while sophomore catcher Michael Amandola (North Babylon, N.Y.), junior outfielder Vincent Napolitano (Bellmore, N.Y.), sophomore designated hitter Ryan DePalma (Albertson, N.Y.) and junior utility Steven Burke (North Babylon, N.Y.) each earned a spot on the Second Team. In addition, head coach Keith Osik was chosen as the Coach of the Year.

Rice, who was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2019 Skyline Conference Baseball Championship on Tuesday, leads FSC in batting average (.402), at-bats (117), runs (34), hits (47), doubles (11), triples (5), homeruns (4), RBI's (24), total bases (80), slugging percentage (.684), on-base percentage (.500), walks (17) and stolen bases (15-of-17). Rice is the Skyline-leader for both slugging percentage and on-base percentage, ranks second in triples, third in homeruns and runs scored, fourth for batting average, sixth in hits, seventh for doubles, and ninth in stolen bases. Rice ranks 50th in the Nation for slugging percentage.

Constantine leads the team in wins (7), appearances (17), starts (8), saves (2), innings pitched (67.0) and strikeouts (47) and ranks second in ERA (2.28) and batting average against (.240). He leads the conference in wins, is second in innings pitched, fourth for saves, fifth in ERA and seventh for strikeouts. In the NCAA, Constantine ranks 44th for wins.

Amandola ranks second on the team in hits (35), runs (24), at-bats (115), triples (3) and stolen bases (12-of-13), is third for doubles (9), RBI's (22), total bases (50) and walks (12), and fourth for batting average (.302), slugging percentage (.435) and on-base percentage (.386). In the Skyline, Amandola ranks fifth for triples and 11th in doubles.

Napolitano leads FSC with 24 runs batted in and ranks second in runs (24), triples (3), total bases (53) and walks (15), third for hits (32), at-bats (113), doubles (9), homeruns (2), and slugging percentage (.469) and fifth in both batting average (.283) and on-base percentage (.359). In the Skyline, Napolitano ranks fifth in triples, 11th for doubles, 13th in slugging percentage and 14th for RBI's.

DePalma leads the team in batting average (.411), ranks second in doubles (10), slugging percentage (.589) and on-base percentage (.458) and fourth in hits (30), RBI's (21) and total bases (43). In the Skyline, DePalma ranks second for batting average, third in slugging percentage and ninth for both on-base percentage and doubles. 

Burke has spent time on the mound (11 games), as well as playing first base (12 games), outfield (8 games) and designated hitter (4 games) this season. On the mound, Burke is 6-0 with a team-leading 1.47 earned run average in 55.0 innings pitched. He has struck out 38 batters and is holding opponents to a .167 batting average against. Burke leads the Skyline in opposing batting average, ranks second in wins, third for ERA and sixth in innings pitched. In the NCAA, he ranks third for WHIP (.78), 13th in hits allowed per nine innings (5.4) and 22nd in earned run average. At the plate, Burke is hitting .315 in 89 at-bats with 16 runs batted in.
