Rams Finish in 3rd Place at Skidmore Invitational
Saratoga Spa State Park Golf Course - Par 72 - 6,750 Yards
Saratoga Springs, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State golf team finished in third place at the Skidmore Invitational after shooting a two day team-total of 601 (301-300). Host school Skidmore College were champions after shooting even par (576), finishing 24 strokes ahead of Salem State and 25 in front of the Rams.
Senior Masa Maruyama led Farmingdale finishing in third place individually with a two day total of 144 (74-70). Maruyama had only one bogie in his final round which came on the short par 5 fourth hole, after hitting his second shot in the water. He would add three birdies, finishing the tournament at even par. Senior Andrew Schwartz shot an even par 72, finishing the tournament at three-over and in a tie for fifth place individually. Maruyama and Schwartz were selected to the All-Tournament Team.
Jeff Santora of Salem State (71-67) and Skidmore's Chris DeJohn (70-68) each posted a six-under par 138 for the tournament and squared off in a sudden death playoff. Santora won on the first playoff hole with a par 4 on the 18th hole. Santora was eight-under par with two holes remaining, before finishing bogie-bogie to force the playoff.
Farmingdale State will play at the St. Joseph's College Invitational on Friday, September 18th at Spring Lake Golf Club.
