Routier Qualifies for NCAA's at Wesleyan Invitational

Middletown, Conn. - The men's and women's indoor track team traveled to Wesleyan University on Saturday, January 27th for the Wesleyan Invitational, where junior team captain Reggie Routier (Freeport, NY/Freeport) had a career day in winning the Triple Jump with a 14.06-meter (46' 1 1/2") performance. Routier's jump was not only a personal best, with the jump he reached an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying mark for the National Championships on March 9th and 10th, which are held at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana.

The jump also moves Routier to third all-time on Farmingdale's Top-10 list for the Triple Jump. Prior to the Triple Jump, Reggie placed second in the 55-meter Hurdles with an ECAC Qualifying time of 8.07 seconds. Adding to his star track performance, Reggie posted the highest grade point average on the team in the Fall semester with a 3.8 GPA.

Three other Triple Jumpers placed in the top six spots as Farmingdale dominated the event. Freshman Chris Herbst placed third in a season best 13.33-meters (43' 8 1/2"), junior Reuben Hairston (Freeport, NY/Freeport) was fifth at 13.04-meters (42' 9 1/2") and freshman Kurt Johns-Harris (Stonybrook, NY/Ward Melville) was sixth at 13.02-meters (42' 8 3/4").

For the women, freshman Jessica Sarro (West Hempstead, NY/West Hempstead) placed third in the Triple Jump at 10.36-meters (34') and ninth in the 200-meter with a time of 27.84 seconds.

Other notable performances:

4x400-meter Relay - Kensley Norian, Jason Chin-Chitty, Azell Green, Ray Thomas - 3:28.99 - 1st place

400-meter - Kensley Norian - 51.67 - 4th place

55-meter High Hurdles - Chris Herbst - 8.21 - 4th place

35 lb. Weight Throw - Alex Rubino - 11.90-meter (39' 1/2") - Personal best
