Gina Pierre Breaks School Record in 20-lb Weight Throw

Manhattan, N.Y. - Sophomore Gina Pierre (Wyandanch, N.Y./St. John the Baptist), for the second week in a row, broke the school record in the 20-lb Weight Throw at this weekends Lafayette/Rider Indoor Games at the New Balance Track & Field Center in Manhattan, N.Y. Gina's toss of 11.48-meters (37' 8") broke the record she set at the CTC Championships by two inches.

Four athletes set personal bests in their events:

Gregory Denis - 500m, 1:08.49

Marc Bernstein - Shot Put, 11.24m (36' 10 1/2")

Nicole Zarek - 55m Hurdles, 9.91 (converted from 60m)

Lama Awad - 200m, 27.96

Akil Williams tied for 7th place out of 28 competitors in the High Jump. Reggie Routier placed 7th and equaled his season best in the Triple Jump at 14.09m (46' 2 3/4").

The team will run next at the NYU Fast Track Meet on Friday, February 29th at the New Balance Track & Field Center in Manhattan, N.Y.
