Rams Selected as Favorite in Men's Basketball

The Farmingdale State University men's basketball team, which went unbeaten in Skyline Conference play last season, has been selected as the conference favorite in the preseason coaches' poll. The Rams, led by second-year head coach Erik Smiles, received 96 points and six first-place votes.

Farmingdale State went 14-0 during the regular season and advanced to the Skyline Conference championship game before falling to Mount Saint Mary, 87-79 in a close final. The Rams are led by senior forward Kenny McMillan, the 2004-05 Skyline Conference Player of the Year. McMillan averaged 18.4 points and 10.9 rebounds per game last season, leading the Rams to a 20-9 overall record.

The Rams open up the 2005-06 25-game regular season schedule at the WCSU Tournament on November 26-27th at Western Connecticut State University. Western Connecticut plays Mitchell College at 6:00pm, while the Rams face Wesleyan at 8:00pm. The winners advance to the Championship game on Sunday at 3:00pm and the consolation game will be played at 1:00pm.
