Western Connecticut's men's basketball team defeated Farmingdale State, 78-70, in the championship game of the WCSU Holiday Tournament at the Feldman Arena Sunday afternoon. The Rams fell to 1-1 on the season, while WCSU improves to 4-1. Junior Greg Cole (Terrytown, NY) led WCSU with 24 points and four rebounds. Freshmen Dashon Jennings (Bridgeport, CT) and Kyle Norfleet (Waterbury, CT) added 13 and 12 point, respectively.
Farmingdale out rebounded WCSU, 53-34, on the afternoon but shot just 39% (28 of 72) from the field. The Rams went on a 22-7 run with 10 minutes remaining, cutting their deficit to two points, 67-65, but could not keep the rally going.
Farmingdale State was led by four players in double figures. Sophomore Warren McAllister (Far Rockaway, NY/Far Rockaway) led the Rams with 15 points and nine rebounds. Junior Terry Menefee (Mission, KS/Shawnee Mission North) added 13 points and senior Dashawn Warren (Astoria, NY/W.C. Bryant) totaled 12 points. Senior Kenny McMillan registered his second double-double in as many games with 10 points and 11 boards.
The Rams host Baruch College on Wednesday night, November 30th, at 7:00pm in their first home game of the season.
