Santana Named Skyline Player of the Year, Shannon and Lipka with All-Conference Honors
Damien Santana Named Skyline Conference Player of the Year; Erastus Shannon and Peter Lipka Receive All-Conference Honors
Farmingdale, N.Y. - Junior guard Damien Santana (Brooklyn,
N.Y./Grady) was named the Skyline Conference Player of the Year
after finishing the season with a conference-leading 21.4 points
per game. Junior forward Erastus Shannon (Amityville,
N.Y./Copiague) was named First Team All-Skyline and senior guard
Peter Lipka (Shelton, Conn./Shelton) was named Second Team
All-Skyline for their efforts this season.
After being named the Skyline Rookie of the Year in 2005-06, Santana picks up his second big honor of his career, the 2007-08 Skyline Player of the Year, as he helped his team to their second Conference Championship in three years. Santana scored 600 points this season, while shooting 35.5-percent from three-point territory, grabbing 6.3 rebounds per game and 2.2 steals per game. He finished 30th in the Nation in scoring and 67th for steals per game.
Shannon, who transferred onto the Rams roster this fall, received First Team All-Skyline honors. Shannon led the team with 8.3 rebounds per game and 39 blocks, while finishing second on the team in scoring with 11.8 points per game.
Lipka, who led the nation in 3-point field goal percentage in 2005-06, was named Second Team All-Skyline after leading the conference with a .457 three-point field goal percentage. Lipka also scored 11.3 points per game and shot .509 from the floor this season.
