- Santana sets a tournament record with 37 points against Otterbein - 

Wooster, Ohio - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team opened up the season at the Al Van Wie/Wooster Rotary Classic at the College of Wooster on Friday, November 16th. The Rams went 1-1 at the tournament, finishing in third place with a win over Otterbein College, as junior guard Damien Santana (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grady) set a tournament record with 37 points in the 98-94 victory in the Consolation game on Saturday night.

The Rams opened up the tourney against Wooster, the 8th ranked team in the nation according to D3Hoops.com. Farmingdale trailed by 17 points at the half and came out in the second shooting 50-percent from the field, but could not make the comeback and fell 106-81. Santana led the team with 23 points. Junior forward Erastus Shannon (Amityville, N.Y./Copiague) finished with 10 points, six rebounds and two blocks.

Against Otterbein in the consolation game, Farmingdale led by eight at the half and held on in the second for the four point victory. Santana scored the game-high of 37 points (7-of-11 from three point range), which is now the tournament record and is also his career-high. Erastus added 14 points and blocked four shots. Sophomore guard Shane Denully (Bronx, N.Y./Our Saviour Lutheran) had 13 points and seven assists.

The Rams will have a break until the home opener on Monday, November 26th against Baruch College at 7:00 p.m.
