Rams Defeated in First Round of NCAA's, Finish Season 22-6

Penn State Behrend - 83, Farmingdale State - 62 


Rochester, N.Y. -The Farmingdale State men's basketball team finished their season with a disappointing loss, 83-62, in the first round of the NCAA Championship against Penn State Behrend. The Lions led by five at the half, 41-36, before opening the second half with a 13-3 run to push the lead to 15 and by as many as 28 points in the second. PSB shot 64-percent from the field in the second and Farmingdale would never recover.

The Rams trailed by 14 points with eight minutes left in the first, before three pointers by senior Warren (Far Rockaway, N.Y./Far Rockaway), junior guard Joe Cammarata (Levittown, N.Y./MacArthur) and sophomore guard Dan Phillips (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) cut the deficit to five at the half. Five players from PSB finished in double figures, leading a balanced attack with a 56-percent field goal percentage for the game.

Senior center Kevin Buczynski (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria) scored 21 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three blocks. Sophomore guards Justin Kovac (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) and Adam Kaiser (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) each added 14 points, including a combined eight three-pointers as the Lions finished 12-of-24 from long range.

The Rams were led by junior guard Damien Santana (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grady) who scored a game-high 22 points to go along with six assists and four steals. McAllister finished with 14 points and six rebounds, while Cammarata had 10 points.

Farmingdale State finishes the season 22-6 overall and will graduate seniors Peter Lipka (Shelton, Conn./Shelton), Brian Robinson (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains) and McAllister.
