Rams Force Overtime to Defeat Baruch
Farmingdale State – 79, Baruch – 72
New York, N.Y. – The Farmingdale State
men’s basketball team improved to 3-1 on the season after
defeating non-conference opponent Baruch College Tuesday night in
overtime.
The Rams started slowly, trailing the Bearcats by 24 points with
5:43 remaining in the first half. Junior Michael Campbell (Bronx,
N.Y. / Samuel Gompers) led Farmingdale with 12 first half points,
helping to cut the deficit to 14 at halftime.
The Rams fought back, eventually tieing the game at 69 on a Daniel
Phillips (Baldwin, N.Y. / Baldwin) layup with 17 seconds remaining.
The game would remain 69-69 after the Bearcats missed a shot as
time expired. Farmingdale State scored the first five points in
overtime and went on to defeat Baruch College 79-72.
Campbell led the team in scoring with 21 points and recorded eight
rebounds. Phillips was 5-for-9 from the field scoring 16, while
seniors Damian Santana (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Grady) and Erastus Shannon
(Amityville, N.Y. / Copiague) each had 12 points for the Rams. Joe
Cammarata (Levittown, N.Y. / MacArthur) had a team-high four steals
in the road victory.
Farmingdale State will travel to Polytechnic University on
Tuesday, December 2nd for their first Skyline Conference game of
the season at 8:00 pm.
