Men Fall in Conference Game at Maritime
Maritime College - 84, Farmingdale State - 73
Throggs Neck, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team fell to Maritime College, 84-73, on Saturday afternoon, in a Skyline Conference game in Throggs Neck, N.Y. With the loss, the Rams fell to 4-2, 1-1 in the Skyline, while the Privateers bettered their record to 4-1, 2-2 in the conference.
Farmingdale took a five point lead into the break with a score of 39-34, but struggled from the field in the second half, shooting just 32-percent as Maritime surged ahead hitting six-of-eight three-pointers along with a 66-percent field goal percentage.
Despite the loss, the Rams had four players in double figures. Junior guard/forward Mike Campbell (Bronx, N.Y./Samuel Gompers) led with 15 points, while senior foward Erastus Shannon (Amityville, N.Y./Copiague) grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and scored 13 points. Senior guard Damien Santana (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grady) scored 13 points and senior guard Joe Cammarata (Levittown, N.Y./MacArthur) finished with 12 points and a team-leading five assists.
Maritime was led by Kevin Josey with 20 points, Paul Frazier with 19 points and 13 rebounds and Andre Cooper with 14 points.
Farmingdale State will travel to face the College of Staten Island tonight, Monday, December 8th at 7:30 p.m., before their home opener on Wednesday, December 10th against Bard.
