Rams Roll with Win Over Staten Island

Staten Island, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team defeated non-conference opponent Staten Island, 81-58, Monday evening in Staten Island, N.Y. The Rams improved to 5-2 on the season, while the College of Staten Island dropped to 0-7.
Farmingdale State fell behind in the games opening minutes, trailing 8-4 at the 16:50 mark. The Rams quickly answered with a 13-0 run, giving them a 17-8 lead midway through the first half. Farmingdale State would extend their lead and take a 36-25 advantage into the locker room behind senior guard Damian Santata's (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grady) 13 first half points, including 3-for-5 from three-point range.
The Rams opened the second half on a 12-3 run, extending their lead to 20 points. They would lead by as many as 26 late in the game and went on to win 81-58. The Rams dominated the glass, out rebounding the Dolphins 58-26, including holding a 21-3 offensive rebound advantage.
Santana led Farmingdale State with a game-high 29 points and added five assists, four steals and shot a team-best 4-for-8 from three-point range. Senior forward Erastus Shannon (Amityville, N.Y./Copiague) was 6-for-9 from the field recording 19 points, while junior guard John Gener Jr. (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond's) grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds.
The Rams will host Bard College in their home opener Wednesday, December 10th at 8:00pm.
