Santana Eclipses 1,500 Points in Win over Old Westbury

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Senior guard Damien Santana (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grady) eclipsed 1,500 points tonight with a 33-point game as the Rams defeated conference rival Old Westbury, 99-81. Farmingdale State improved to 8-2 overall with the win, 3-1 in the Skyline, while the Panthers dropped to3-8, 2-2.
In the first half, the Rams started on a 10-0 run over the first three minutes, before Old Westbury was able to get on the board with a free throw at the 16:46 mark. Santana led all scorers in the first with 19 points, followed by senior guard Joe Cammarata (Levittown, N.Y./MacArthur) with 11 points, as Farmingdale took a 51-32 lead into the lockerroom.
The second proved nothing different as Rams senior forward Davon Jackson (New York, N.Y./Rice) opened the scoring with a jumpshot and on the next possession Santana hit another three for his 1,500th career point with 19:05 left to play and scored 14 more throughout the second for a total of 33 points, including seven three-pointers, which ties the single game school record.
Cammarata finished with 20 total points for Farmingdale, while senior forward Erastus Shannon (Amityville, N.Y./Copiague) had 14 points and Jackson had 12.
The Rams will travel next to play St. Joseph's College in Patchogue, N.Y. for another conference game on Thursday, January 8th at 8:00 p.m.
