Starters Lead Rams Over Purchase

Purchase, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team traveled to Purchase College last night and defeated the Panthers 91-80, with all five starters scoring at least fifteen points. Farmingdale State won their ninth consecutive game, improving to 13-2 on the season, 8-1 in Skyline play, while Purchase fell to 8-6 overall, 4-4 in the conference.
The Rams were led offensively by junior forward Daniel Philips (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin), who scored a game-high 20 points. Junior guard Mike Campbell (Bronx, N.Y./Samuel Gompers) scored 19, shooting 8-for-11 from the floor and had a game-high 11 rebounds while senior guard Damien Santana (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grady) grabbed 10 boards to go along with his 16 points in 40 minutes of action for Farmingdale. Senior forward Erastus Shannon (Amityville, N.Y./Copiague) recorded 17 points, six rebounds and four steals. Shannon was 6-for-7 from the field and perfect at the free-throw line, converting all five attempts. Senior guard Joe Cammarata (Levittown, N.Y./MacArthur) pitched in scoring 15, helping the Rams win their seventh consecutive Skyline Conference game. Farmingdale State controlled the glass, out rebounding Purchase 47-28.
The Panthers were led by senior forward Kazeem Famuyide (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Patrick) who scored a team-high 17 points and recorded three steals. Sophomore forward Marvin Billups (Chester, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) scored 16, while sophomore guard Tyriq Harrington (Corona, N.Y./Forest Hills) added 11, seven of which came from the free-throw line.
The Rams will travel to Old Westbury to take on the Panthers on Saturday, January 24th at 4:00pm.
