Win Over Golden Eagles Puts Rams in First Place in Skyline

Farmingdale State - 66, St. Joseph's - 61

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team won a school record 16th consecutive game tonight over St. Joseph's, for a 66-61 conference win. The Rams improved to 20-2 overall, 14-1 in the Skyline and now hold sole possesion of first place. The Golden Eagles fell to 19-3, 13-2 in the conference

St Joe's led in the first five minutes, before Farmingdale went ahead one minute later and led throughout the first half, holding an eight-point advantage at the break. In the second half, the Rams built up a 12-point cushion, before an 8-1 Golden Eagles run made the score 50-47 with six minutes to go. Farmingdale went back up by seven and St. Joe's fought back to cut the deficit to two, 59-57 with 1:45 on the clock. The Rams secured the win with 5-of-7 free throws in the final minutes. 

Farmingdale was led by junior forward Mike Campbell, who recorded (Bronx, N.Y./Samuel Gompers) 16 points, eight rebounds and four steals, while senior guard Damien Santana (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grady) added 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Senior forward Erastus Shannon (Amityville, N.Y./Copiague) scored 12 and had four steals for the Rams.

The Golden Eagles were led by freshman guard Chris Jimenez (Huntington Station, N.Y./St. Anthony's) who finished with 24 points, including six from long range and three blocks, while senior guard David Acree (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) had 15 points.

The Rams now host Yeshiva on Saturday, Feburary 14th at 8:30 p.m.
