2009-10 Men's Basketball Season Recap
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The men’s basketball team finished the season with an overall record of 13-13, including 13-7 in the conference. After reaching the Elite 8 in the 2008-09 season, Coach Smiles returned only three players this year. Despite a rebuilding year, the Rams qualified for the Skyline Conference playoffs where they were defeated in the quarterfinals.
Individually, the team was led by First Team All-Conference selection, junior guard Shahee Martin (Queens, N.Y./West Hempstead). Martin led the team in scoring, averaging 16.7 points per game and was the team leader in rebounds (7.0 rpg), assists (49), steals (33) and blocked shots (20).
Senior guard Terrence Howard (Queens, N.Y./Cardozo) finished second on the team in scoring with 8.4 points per game as well as rebounds (6.2 rpg), while junior transfer Andre Martin (Bronx, N.Y./Evander Childs) was solid throughout his first year at Farmingdale. Martin finished third on the team in scoring and rebounds and was solid on both ends of the floor in his first year at Farmingdale.
The team dedicated the season to top recruit Dominic Murray. Murray’s number was retired and will forever be displayed in Nold Hall.
