New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the 13th Men's Basketball report for the 2011-12 season this afternoon, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics. Junior forward AJ Matthews (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was named Player of the Week for the 8th time this season, while freshman forward Ibrahim Johnson (New York, N.Y.) took Rookie of the Week honors.
Matthews had two more double-doubles (23 straight), but no shot has been bigger than his field goal with :08 left to lift the Rams to a 68-67 win at MSMC and give the Rams a 1st-round bye. Had 15 points and 11 rebounds in the game, after a dominating 24 point, 22 rebound effort vs. Maritime. He is currently the Div. III National leader in double-doubles and rebounds (16.0), 3rd in points (22.0) and blocks (4.0), and 5th in field goal percentage (62.8%).
Johnson continued his stellar rookie year by helping the Rams to two league wins. He had 15 points and 9 rebounds in big win over Mount Saint Mary, then had 10 points and 9 rebounds vs. Maritime, shooting 77% from the field.
