2012-13 Men's Basketball Season Recap

- Matthews repeats as All-American for Rams -


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team finished 20-8 overall and were the #4 seed for the Conference Tournament. The Rams advanced to the championship game, but finished as the runner-up after falling to Purchase College.

Farmingdale State led Division III in field-goal percentage defense and rebounding margin, holding opponents to 35.7% shooting and pulling down an average of 11.8 more rebounds per game.

The team was led by senior forward AJ Matthews (Brooklyn, N.Y.), who led the nation in rebounding (14.7 per game) and double-doubles (20). Matthews also finished 7th nationally for blocked shots per game (2.88) and 9th in scoring with 22.6 points per game. He received three All-American awards, was named All-District Player of the Year and was also selected First Team All-Met and First Team All-Conference.

Senior guard Ryan Davis (Flushing, N.Y.) led the team in assists and steals and was 2nd on the team in scoring with 13.5 points per game. Davis led the conference in minutes played, finished 3rd in the conference for sssists per game (4.35), 4th for 3-point field goals made (2.54) and 5th for steals (2.04).

Senior guard Christian Nunez (White Plains, N.Y.) posted career-high's in his senior season, averaging 21 minutes with 7.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. He also led the team in free-throw percentage at .783 for the year and finished 2nd on the team in steals.

Freshman guard Wilson Molina (Woodside, N.Y.) finished the year with 2.3 assists per game.
