Farmingdale State - 65, Mount Saint Vincent - 46
Riverdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team shot over 50-percent in the second half to come home with 65-46 victory against the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Monday, February 17th at the Peter Jay Sharp Center. The Rams improved to 17-6, 13-3 in Skyline play with the win while the Dolphins dropped to 7-16, 5-11 in conference play.
Mount Saint Vincent jumped out to an early lead, 11-1, forcing five turnovers in the first four minutes. But Farmingdale held the Dolphins to just 14 more points before the half, and were tied 25-25 at the break.
In the second, senior center Donald Lawes (Queens, N.Y.) dunked on the Rams first possession to give his team a 27-25 lead. Farmingdale State held Mount Saint Vincent to just 25-percent shooting in the second, holding the lead throughout, en route to the 19-point win.
Lawes finished with a game-high 18 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. Senior guard Timothy Johnson (Queens, N.Y.) had 10 points, four assists and seven boards, while senior guard Jonathan Annan (Staten Island, N.Y.) totaled four assists and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
For the Dolphins, Kahlil Shorter scored 15 points, while Brandon Serrano posted 12 points and eight rebounds.
The Rams will now travel to face St. Joseph's on Wednesday, February 19th at 8:00 p.m.
