Head Coach: Erik Smiles (4th season)

Erik Smiles was named Head Men's Basketball Coach in March 2004. Smiles was the Assistant Coach at Farmingdale State for a year and a half, before becoming the Interim Head Coach at the end of the 2003-04 season.

Coach Smiles currently holds a career record of 61-25. In his first season at the helm, Smiles finished with a 20-9 record, advancing to the Skyline Finals and receiving an ECAC bid.

In 2005-06, Coach Smiles led the Rams to a 23-6 overall record, winning the first-ever Skyline Conference Championship in school history and making the first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. In the NCAA Tournament, he led the men to a first-round win with a 93-82 victory over Ursinus College. The Rams then faced eventual-champion Virginia-Wesleyan University in the second-round and led by seven points with 6:15 remaining in the game, before a 10-point surge by VWU led to a 71-63 loss, ending an exciting season for men's basketball at Farmingdale State. Also during that season, the Rams held an impressive 23-game conference win streak that dated from February 11, 2004 until January 19, 2006. They also won the first regular-season Tournament in program history at the Randolph-Macon Rees Jewelers Xmas Classic with wins over Kenyon College and Fisk University. The Rams were ranked fourth in the Atlantic Region during the season and received votes in the D3Hoops.com Top-25 Poll at the end of the season.

Smiles has received a total of five Coach of the Year awards. He is a 2-time Skyline Coach of the Year, 2-time BCANY Co-Coach of the Year and one time D3Hoops.com Atlantic Region Coach of the Year. His team has also received the Skyline Conference Sportsmanship Award twice.

Smiles is a 2001 graduate of the University of Bridgeport, where he played four years of Varsity basketball. He currently lives in Huntington, NY and is pursuing his Master's Degree in Physical Education at Queens College.
