Head Coach: Erik Smiles (7th season)

Erik Smiles was named Head Men's Basketball Coach in March 2004. Smiles was the Assistant Coach at Farmingdale State for a year and a half, before becoming the Interim Head Coach at the end of the 2003-04 season. Coach Smiles currently holds a career record of 110-35.

In his first season at the helm, Smiles finished with a 20-9 record, advancing to the Skyline Finals and receiving an ECAC bid. In 2005-06, Coach Smiles led the Rams to a 23-6 overall record, winning the first-ever Skyline Conference Championship in school history and making the first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. During that season, the Rams held an impressive 23-game conference win streak that dated from February 11, 2004 until January 19, 2006.

The Rams again won a Conference Championship in 2007-08, making their second appearance in the NCAA Tournament, before receiving an At-large bid to the Tournament in 2008-09 after posting a 23-2 record during regular season play with a 20-game win streak. In that Tournament, the Rams made an impressive run for a National Championship with wins over UNE, MIT and Bridgewater State, before falling to National Runner-up Richard Stockton in the Elite 8. The team was ranked #23 in the Nation in the final D3hoops.com Poll.

Smiles has received a total of eight Coach of the Year awards. He is a 3-time Skyline Coach of the Year, 2-time BCANY Co-Coach of the Year, one time All-Met Coach of the Year, one time NABC Coach of the Year, and one time D3Hoops.com Atlantic Region Coach of the Year. His team has also received the Skyline Conference Sportsmanship Award twice.

Smiles is a 2001 graduate of the University of Bridgeport, where he played four years of Varsity basketball. He currently lives in Huntington, NY and is pursuing his Master's Degree in Physical Education at Queens College.
