2002 Season - The men's soccer team finished the season with an overall record of 8-9-1 and just missed out on a bid to the ECAC playoffs. The Rams began the season on a high note, winning the 1st annual Rams Invitational, defeating Alfred in the 1st round and FDU-Madison in the championship game.

Individually, the team was led by a trio of players, goalie Patric Santiago, sweeper Luke Gentile and stopper George Scarpias. Santiago was named the most valuable player of the Rams Invitational and had 3 shutouts during the season. Gentile was named 2nd team All-ECAC after being named to the All-Tournament team's at the Rams Invitational and Manhattanville Invitational. Scarpias, the 1st ever four year starter for men's soccer, was also named to the all-tournament team at the Manhattanville Invitational.

The team looks forward to 2003 season under the direction of new head coach Chuck Schimpf.

Chuck Schimpf named Head Men?s Soccer Coach at Farmingdale State.
Mike Harrington, Director of Athletics at Farmingdale State, is pleased to announce the hiring of Chuck Schimpf as Head Men?s Soccer Coach. Schimpf was the head coach at Suffolk Community College - Western Campus for the past five years. During that time, Suffolk-West was ranked Nationally in the NJCAA each of his five years, including a #2 ranking in 1999. He was named both the NJCAA and the National Soccer Coaches Athletic Association (NSCAA) Coach of the Year. Before Suffolk-West, Schimpf was an assistant coach at Kings Point, Suffolk-Selden and SUNY Stony Brook. Schimpf is a former professional soccer player in the United Soccer League (Buffalo Storm - 1984) and the Major Indoor Soccer League (New York Express - 1985-1986). He is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University.
