Inouye Leads the Mariners over the Rams

Kings Point, N.Y. - Benjamin Inouye scored two goals to lead the United States Merchant Marine Academy (3-2) to a 4-0 victory over Farmingdale State (0-4) on Wednesday night in Kings Point, N.Y. Ryan Hadley recorded an assist and a goal to help the Mariners to victory.

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy scored its first goal of the game when David Poulnot took a corner kick for the Mariners. Inouye received the corner and place a header into the net. The second goal of the first half again came from Inouyne when he knocked the ball in from just over 25 yards out. With Inouye's second goal, the Mariners held a 2-0 lead at halftime.

USMMA recorded its third goal of the game in the 76th minute when Kyle Luetjen scored his first goal of the season, off a pass from Hadley. The Mariners continued their offensive pressure as Hadley netted their fourth and final goal.

Preston Stokes got the start in goal for the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and ended the day with four saves on four opportunities. Farmingdale State's Patric Gubbins (East Patchogue, N.Y./Bellport) made three saves on seven opportunities.

The Rams will travel to Newark, New Jersey this weekend to participate in the Rutgers-Newark Invitational. The first game will feature Farmingdale and Rutgers-Camden on Saturday, September 15th at 4:00 p.m., while the second game will be against Rutgers-Newark on Sunday, September 16th at 7:00 p.m.
