Farmingdale State - 2, Drew University - 0

Farmingdale, N.Y. – The Farmingdale State men's soccer team (3-6) won their third straight in a 2-0 shutout against Drew University (5-4) today in Farmingdale, N.Y. Rams senior forward Andrew Whilby (St. Albans, N.Y./Wolmers Boys School) scored the first goal which became the game-winner in the 28th minute of play, as he headed in a rebound off the Drew goaltender.

With eight minutes left to play, junior forward Prince Eltosam (Bronx, N.Y./Christopher Columbus) made a soft pass over to sophomore defender Marcos Cipra (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) for the easy tap-in and a 2-0 lead.

Drew outshot Farmingdale 18-7 and held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks, but Rams sophomore goalkeeper Patric Gubbins (East Patchogue, N.Y./Bellport) made nine saves for the win. Senior defender James Varrichio (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) and junior midfielder Bryant Rodriguez (Elmont, N.Y./Sewanhaka) both made a team save to help in the shutout victory.

Farmingdale State now hosts York (N.Y.) on Saturday, September 29th in a non-conference game starting at 1:00 p.m.
