Rams Drop Home Opener to New Paltz

Farmingdale, NY – Junior midfielder Jason Irish (Marlboro Central/Newburgh, NY) scored the only goal of the game, leading New Paltz to a 1-0 victory over the Rams on Wednesday afternoon, September 7th at Farmingdale field. The Rams were outshot 20-5, but the defense and goalkeeping held the Hawks to only one score for the day.

Senior goalkeeper Patric Santiago (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) made a diving stop on a penalty kick by New Paltz midfielder Brian Seirgiej (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) with 15 minutes remaining in the second half to keep the score 1-0. Santiago finished with nine saves.

Irish’s goal came in the 35th minute when he knocked in the rebound off a shot by Paolo Capparelli (Wappinger Falls, NY/Roy C. Ketchum) that hit the right post. New Paltz goalkeeper Patrick Carlucci (Goshen, NY/Goshen Central) registered two saves for the win.

Farmingdale will host City Tech on Saturday, September 10th at 1:00pm.
