Men's Soccer Season Recap
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The men's soccer team finished
their season with an overall record of 10-10, including 6-2 in the
Skyline Conference. The Rams defeated Purchase College 6-0 in the
quarterfinals of the Skyline playoffs before a close 3-2 loss in
the semifinals at the hands of St. Joseph’s College.
Four players were named to the All Skyline Conference Team. Forward
Andrew Whilby, who led the team in scoring with 16 goals and 36
points, was named a First Team All-Conference selection. Midfielder
Thomas Mueller was named a second team selection, providing solid
all around play both defensively and on the offensive end, chipping
in with six goals.
Senior James Varrichio played the final 12 games of the season on a
fully torn ACL and still managed to be named a 2nd Team All-Skyline
player. Varrichio, a defenseman and captain for the Rams, was the
heart and soul and the true leader of the team. Goalkeeper Patrick
Gubbins was named second team All-Skyline after posing an
outstanding 1.90 goals against average for Farmingdale.
