Rams Defeat Yeshiva in Season Opener

Farmingdale State - 7, Yeshiva - 2

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's tennis team got off to a good start with a 7-2 victory over Yeshiva University in their season opening match on Sunday afternoon. The Rams won two of three doubles matches, and then added five wins in singles play for the victory.

Farmingdale State sophomore Joe Passarella (Flushing, N.Y./Holy Cross) and senior Matt Kaczmarczyk (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) took a 9-7 win at 1st doubles, while freshman Tom Johnsen (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge) and sophomore Chris Genzmann (Massapequa, N.Y./Farmingdale) defeated Yeshiva in 2nd doubles, 8-5.

For singles victories, Passarella walked away with a 6-3, 6-3 win. Kaczmarczyk won 6-2, 2-6, 6-3. Johnsen won 6-4, 2-6, 6-3. Genzmann won 6-4, 6-3. Junior Bill Jimenez (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) won 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.

Farmingdale State will host Brooklyn College on Tuesday, March 17th at 4:00 p.m.
