Rams Remain Unbeaten with Win over Purchase

Farmingdale State - 5, Purchase - 4


Purchase, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's tennis team defeated Purchase College, 5-4, this afternoon improving to a perfect 4-0 on the season. The Rams won three singles and two doubles matches.

Sophomore Joe Passarella (Flushing, N.Y./Holy Cross) won at 1st singles 6-2, 6-1; freshman Tom Johnsen (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge) won at 3rd singles 6-4, 6-4 and junior Joe Hotzak (St. James, N.Y./Smithtown) won at 6th singles with scores of 6-4, 6-2.

In doubles, Passarella and senior Matt Kaczmarczyk (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) defeated Purchase's Nico Marceca (North Salem, N.Y./North Salem) and Harrison Grinnell (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) 8-4, improving to 4-0 on the season as a 1st doubles team for Farmingdale State. Johnsen and sophomore Chris Genzmann (Massapequa, N.Y./Farmingdale) won 9-7 over Matthew Plen (Manchester, CT/Manchester) and Maxim Luiggi (Paris, France/The Masters School) in the 2nd doubles match for the Rams. Christopher Arnet (Tonawanda, N.Y./Kenmore West) and Matthew Hecht (Cold Spring, N.Y./O'Neill) defeated Farmingdale juniors Hotzak and William Jimenez (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) 8-4 in 3rd doubles.

The Rams will host Suffolk CC on Tuesday, March 31st at 3:30pm.
