2011 Men's Tennis Season Recap


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The men's tennis team captured the Skyline Conference Championship for the first time in school history this season. After finishing the year with a perfect 7-0 record in conference, the Rams were the number one seed for the playoffs. Farmingdale defeated Purchase in the semifinals and captured the title with a win over Mount Saint Mary in the finals.

The Rams headed to Williams College for the NCAA Regional Tournament. In the first round, Farmingdale faced Marywood University and earned their first ever NCAA victory with a 5-3 win. The Rams fell to host school Williams College 5-0 in the second round of the tournament. 

Christian Bormann, who was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year, was 9-6 on the year playing No. 1 singles. Bormann won both of his matches in the playoffs and was named the Tournament's Most Valuable Player. Senior Joe Passarella was named First Team All-Skyline after going 10-5 from the No.2 singles position and combining with Bormann for an 12-4 doubles record. Sophomore Alex Bessarabov (12-2), freshman Joe Falcetta (12-2) and seniors Chris Genzmann (12-2) and Theo Gioles (11-1) were dominant singles players throughout the year. Genzmann and Falcetta were 8-2 on the year in doubles. Bessarabov received Second Team All-Conference honors and head coach Adam Waterhouse was named the Skyline Coach of the Year.
