Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's tennis team shutout the College of Staten Island, 9-0, in a non-conference match last night in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams improved to 5-3, while Staten Island dropped to 3-6 with the loss.
In doubles action, freshman Justin Vijungco (Forest Hills, N.Y.) and sophomore Christian Bormann (Huntington, N.Y.) picked up an 8-4 victory in the #1 slot, while junior Ryan Musalo (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and Alex Bessarabov notched an 8-4 win at #2 doubles. Sophomore Joseph Falcetta (Deer Park, N.Y.) and freshman Jimmy Lopez (Medford, N.Y.) teamed up in third doubles and picked up an 8-1 victory.
Vijungco earned a 6-3, 6-2 victory at #1 singles, while Bormann was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at second singles. Junior Jack Eichler (Woodbury, N.Y.) recorded a pair of 6-0 wins at #6 singles for Farmingdale State.
The Rams next will travel to St. Joseph's for a Skyline Conference match on Thursday, April 12th at 5:00 p.m.
