Men's Tennis Captures Third Straight Skyline Conference Title

#1 Farmingdale State - 5, #2 Mount Saint Mary - 1

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's tennis team took a 5-1 victory over second-seed Mount Saint Mary College (14-6) to capture their third straight Skyline Conference Championship today. With the win, the Rams receive the conference's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Tournament.

After doubles play, Farmingdale State led 3-0. First doubles tandem of sophomore Justin Vijungco (Forest Hills, N.Y.) and senior Ryan Musalo (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) took an 8-3 victory over the Knights' top tandem of junior Greg Jacob (Ridgefield, Conn.) and sophomore Nate Dimmie (Middletown, N.Y.).

At second doubles, senior Alex Bessarabov (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and junior Steven Ferrantello (Dix Hills, N.Y.) posted an 8-4 win over junior Stat Willand (Sparta, N.J.) and freshman Mike Balokoz (Milford, Conn.).

In the third spot, junior Bradley Smith (Mineola, N.Y.) and junior Judd Bahoui (Long Beach, N.Y.) took the 8-6 victory over sophomore Connor Merryman (Marlboro, N.Y.) and senior Bryan Pujol (East Rockaway, N.Y.).

In singles play, Alex Bessarabov made it 4-0 Rams with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Stat Willand at 3rd singles. Mount Saint Mary won at 4th singles with a 6-1, 6-4 win.

The match-winning point was recorded by Ryan Musalo, who was named the Skyline Tournament MVP, with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Nate Dimmie at 2nd singles.

The Rams will now await word of their opponent for the NCAA's.
