Farmingdale, N.Y. - In their first match of the spring season, the Farmingdale State men's tennis team defeated John Jay, 9-0, in non-conference action this afternoon. The Rams improved to 2-1, while the Bloodhounds fell to 0-3 on the year.
In doubles competition, Farmingdale State sophomore's Chris Hunter (Melville, N.Y.) and Tyler Danzy (Central Islip, N.Y.) paired for an 8-0 victory over Luis Chirinos (Huancayo, Peru) and Richard Mills (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) in the first position. At second doubles, freshmen Aravind Mahalingam (Hyderabad, India) and Karuppiah Karuppiah (Trichy, India) tallied an 8-5 win, while freshmen Joseph Drago (Bronx, N.Y.) and Patrick Madigan (Sayville, N.Y.) recorded an 8-0 victory in the third position.
The Rams swept the singles play: Hunter (6-0, 6-0), Danzy (6-0, 6-0), Daniel Kafka (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) (6-4, 6-4), Marvin Beaubrun (Farmingdale, N.Y.) (6-4, 6-1), Dan Baruch (East Meadow, N.Y.) (6-0, 6-0) and Kevin Palacios (Glen Cove, N.Y.) (6-0, 6-0).
Farmingdale State next will travel to Hunter on Wednesday, March 25th for a non-conference match at 6:00 p.m.
