The men's and women's indoor track team competed in the New York City Gotham Cup on Friday, January 13th, 2006 at the 168 St. Armory in Manhattan.
Sophomore Shane Smith (Brooklyn, NY/Lafayette) placed 3rd out of 36 competitors in the Pole Vault with a vault of 14'6" (4.50m). Junior Akil Williams (Jamaica, NY/August Martin) placed 4th in the High Jump with a personal best of 6'5" (1.96m). Ian Lovergie (Castle Point, NY/Beacon) tied for 6th place with a jump of 6'3" (1.91m).
An update on our teams ECAC Qualifiers...Shane Smith's previous school record vault of 15 feet, which was set at the CTC Relays on December 4th, puts him in 3rd place on the ECAC performance list. Ian Lovergie's previous 6'6" jump (also set at the CTC's) and Akil's 6'5" jump place them 4th and 5th, respectively, on the ECAC performance list. The ECAC's will be held on March 3rd and 4th at Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA.

Jason Chin-Chitty - Long Jump: 21'2" (6.45m), personal best.
Mike Landi - 1000m: 2:40.99, personal best.
Armann Leifsson - 1000m: 2:43.08, personal best.
As a team, the men finished 23rd out of 35 scoring teams. Sixty teams entered and Farmingdale State was one of only three Division III teams to score in the meet.
The Rams will return to the Armory this Friday, January 20th to compete in the Great Dane Invitational. Of the 17 schools competing, Farmingdale State will be the only Division III team.
