Men Place 2nd and Women Place 7th at CTC's

Men Place 2nd in the Meet, Qualify 4 for the ECAC's; Women Place
7th, Pierre Breaks School Record
New Haven, Conn. - The Farmingdale State men's and
women's Indoor Track team opened the season this weekend, Sunday,
December 7th at Yale University for the Collegiate Track Conference
Relays. The men's team placed second at the meet and had four
qualifying performances for the ECAC Championships, while the
women's team placed seventh and junior Gina Pierre (Wyandanch,
N.Y./St. John the Baptist) broke her own school record in the 20-lb
Weight Throw.
Freshman Joe Scher (Franklin Square, N.Y./H.F. Carey) won the
individual 55-meter Dash with an ECAC Qualifying time of 6.48.
Joe's time ties him for eighth place on the All-Time Farmingdale
Top-10 List. Joe teamed with freshman Dan Billian (East Meadow,
N.Y./W.T. Clarke), 6.70, to win the 55-meter Relay
Championship.
Junior Brandon Drummond (Bay Shore, N.Y./Brentwood) was the
individual 35-lb Weight Throw champion with a throw of 15.48-meters
(50' 9 1/2"). Brandon combined with freshman John Roselle
(Huntington Station, N.Y./Walt Whitman), 11.99m (39' 4"), to win
the Weight Throw Relay Championship. Brandon is now #2 on the
All-Time List and qualified for the ECAC's with his
performance.
Sophomore Qasim Ellis (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) long jumped
6.65-meters (21' 10") and won the individual Long Jump championship
to also qualify for the ECAC meet. Qasim teamed with senior captain
Naveed Mohammed (Central Islip, N.Y./Central Islip), 6.14-meters
(20' 1 3/4") to win the Long Jump Relay Championship.
The 4x200-meter Relay of Joe Scher, Jason Chin Chitty (Beacon,
N.Y./Beacon), Dan Billian and Naveed Mohammed ran 1:32.63 to place
second and also qualify for the ECAC meet. There time now places
them in ninth on the All-Time List.
Junior Gina Pierre broke her own school record in the 20-lb Weight
Throw with a toss of 12.61-meters (41' 4 1/2"). Gina placed third
in the event.
