Nine Individuals and Three Relays Named CTC All-Conference

- Rams Men and Women Highlight First-Ever CTC All-Conference Teams -

The Collegiate Track Conference released their first-ever Indoor Track All-Conference Teams for the 2011 season and Farmingdale State's men's team had seven individuals and two Relay teams named to the list, while the women had two individuals and one Relay team selected.

For the men, three individuals were named to the First Team, including sophomore Donnell Jones for the 55m Dash, sophomore Joseph Verderber for the Pole Vault, and senior Qasim Ellis for the Triple Jump. Jones posted his best time this season at the CTC Championship on February 12th, where he ran 6.56 to win the event. Verderber holds a team-best Vault this season of 14' 5 1/4" from the St. John's Indoor Meet on December 8th where he qualified for the ECAC's. Ellis jumped a school record 47' 5 3/4" in the Triple Jump at the Metro Coaches Invitational on January 7th and is currently qualfied for the NCAA Championships in that event.

The women's team had two individuals listed on the First Team, including sophomore Corine Magee in two events, the 55m Dash and 200m Dash, and sophomore Faustine Chukwuezi for the Triple Jump. Magee holds the school records for both events, and is also qualified for both events for the ECAC Championships and is qualified for the Nationals in the 55m Dash. Her season-best time for the 55m is 7.12, while her season-best for the 200m is 25.6 seconds. Chukwuezi, the school record holder in the Triple Jump, is currently qualfied for the ECAC and NCAA's in the Triple Jump with a season-best jump of 37' 5 1/4".

Those named to the Second Team were sophomore John Verderber in the Pole Vault, senior Qasim Ellis for the Long Jump and junior John Roselle for the Weight Throw. Verderber vaulted a season-best of 14' 3 1/4" at the NYU Team Challenge as the men took 1st place out of 9 teams at the meet. Ellis was named again on this team for the Long Jump, after leaping a season-best 23' 3 1/2" at the St. John's Indoor Meet. Roselle is the teams top weight thrower with a mark of 55' 2 3/4" which he set at the Wesleyan Invitational on January 22nd. He is currently qualified for the ECAC's in this event.

Honorable Mention winners were: junior Steven Brown for the 55m High Hurdles, senior Gregory Denis for the 500m, sophomore Donnell Jones in the Long Jump and sophomore Edward Brown in the Weight Throw, the 4x200m Men's Relay Team, the 4x400m Men's Relay Team and the 4x200m Women's Relay Team. Steven Brown set a season-best in the Hurdles with a time of 8.07 at the Wesleyan Invitational, while Denis improved his time for the ECAC's in the 500m with a time of 1:07.34 at the NYU Team Challenge. Jones picked up his second award with a leap of 22' 7 1/4" to qualify for the ECAC's in the first meet of the season. Ed Brown's best mark in the Weight Throw is currently 54' 1 1/4", second all-time on the Farmingdale records, and he is qualified for the ECAC's. The final two awards went out to Donnell Jones, Steven Brown, Akeem Watts and Deshaun Thomas for the 4x200m Relay, while the 4x400 Relay Team of Donnell Jones, Greg Denis, Akeem Watts and Steven Brown was also named Honorable Mention, as those four men ran 3:28.21 and took 3rd place at the NYU Team Challenge.

The women's 4x200m Relay team of Kathleen Clermont, Faustine Chukwuezi, Victoria Mandat and Corine Magee. These four hold the school record time of 1:47.28 for the Relay.
