Rams Break Three School Records at NJAC Championships

Staten Island, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's and women's indoor track teams competed in the NJAC Championships on Monday afternoon at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Complex in Staten Island, N.Y. The Rams broke three school records at the meet and had one individual champion in the Men's Weight Throw, as the men's team took 5th place and the women's team took 7th overall.

Senior Jyaire Ewa (Rochdale, N.Y.) took 1st place in the Weight Throw, recording a toss of 18.07m on his first throw of the day.

Senior Idowu Bamisile (Brooklyn, N.Y.) broke his own school record in the 60m Hurdles, posting a time of 8.32 in the prelims and 8.33 in the Finals to claim 2nd place overall. This broke his own record by .08 seconds that was set back in 2016.

The men's 4x200m Relay of junior Philip Sellitto (Levittown, N.Y.), senior Nikola Georgiev (Kings Park, N.Y.), Bamisile and senior Nicolas Fratto (Farmingdale, N.Y.) finished in 2nd place with a time of 1:28.47, as they broke a school record that has stood since 1992.

The women's Distance Medley Relay of senior Megan Eiseman (Seaford, N.Y.), senior Nicole Franz (Melville, N.Y.), sophomore Nicole Ferguson (Shirley, N.Y.) and sophomore Erin Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) finished in 3rd place (13:26.41), breaking the school record by 31 seconds.

 

Other notable finishes:

In the men's 400m, Philip Sellitto took 3rd place with a time of 49.59, moving him into #5 on the All-Time list.

The men's Distance Medley Relay finished in 3rd place at 10:53.57. Sophomore David Santa (Westbury, N.Y.), sophomore Joseph Motis (Massapequa, N.Y.), freshman Kamal Ojibara (Hempstead, N.Y.) and sophomore James O'Brien (South Jamaica, N.Y.) moved to #10 on the FSC All-Time list.

Sophomore Samantha Pollucci (Bay Shore, N.Y.) claimed 4th place in the women's 60m, improving her #2 All-Time mark with a time of 7.99.

Nikola Georgiev posted a 4th place finish in the 200m, moving to #7 All-Time at 22.59 seconds.

The men's 4x400m Relay (3:24.49, Sellitto, Georgiev, Bamisile, Fratto) and the men's 4x800m Relay (8:16.64, Aromolo, McKeon, Ojibara, Santa) both took 4th place.

The women's 4x800m Relay (Eiseman, Ferguson, Franz, Lettieri) finished in 4th place with a time of 10:26.56 to move to #4 All-Time.

Sophomore Thomas Franks (Coram, N.Y.) finished in 7th place in the Weight Throw with a mark of 12.75m.

In the men's 5000m, James O'Brien claimed 8th place in 15:52.24, moving him to #6 on the All-Time list.

Sophomore Kelsey Jamison (Huntington, N.Y.) tied her career best in the Weight Throw (11.59m) to take 9th place overall.

 

The Rams will now travel to the Fastrack Last Chance Qualifier on Saturday, February 24th at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Complex.
